I have been involved with Scouts since I was a little girl: as a Brownie, a First Class Girl Scout, a Cub Scout mom and den leader, and then a Scouts BSA mom and volunteer. It runs in the family. My mom was a Brownie leader, and my brother an Eagle Scout and Scoutmaster. Starting a business to help other Scouts BSA parents felt very natural, and promises to be as exciting as any High Adventure!

When my son crossed over from Webelos to what was then Boy Scouts, I knew a little about the program. I started reading everything I could find to make sense of all the different aspects of Scouts BSA: rank advancement, merit badges, service, leadership, camping, awards, fundraising and more. Along the way, I discovered that many new Scout parents felt overwhelmed trying to understand and keep track of everything, and that I had a lot of valuable information to share. I began writing, and Smooth Sailing Through Scouts was born. I hope you'll find that it simplifies your Scouting life, giving you more time for everything else.

Do You Wish Being a New Scout Parent Was a Breeze?

  • 75-page Smooth Sailing Guide ebook puts key information about Scouts BSA at your fingertips, and includes links to over 90 resources online
  • Forms and checklists in your Smooth Sailing Binder help get your busy Scout parenting life under control, while labeled protector pages keep Scouting papers organized over the years

"... the Smooth Sailing Guide is an absolutely wonderful aid in helping keep my son on track now that he has moved to Scouts from Cub Scouts. The sections on rank advancement with their step by step "coaching" are truly remarkable and should help any parent who is new to scouting (or a veteran scouter for that matter) keep all the paperwork and advancement information for their scout in order and organized. The tips scattered throughout the Guide are very helpful ... -- virtually all questions are answered. ... After purchasing a copy for myself and seeing how helpful it is, I just recently purchased another copy for a family that is new to scouting and has been struggling to figure out how to support their son in managing all the requirements. I recommend this Guide without reservation as a truly great accompaniment to the Scout Handbook and merit badge pamphlets." Richard K., verified reviewer

Wondering About My Company Name?

Sengen is the Shinto goddess of Fujiyama, Japan's highest and most holy Mount Fujiyama, Japanmountain. This "Princess Who is as Radiant as the Blossoming Trees" is said to reside within a dazzling cloud in the crater atop the snow-covered volcanic mountain; and to control the healing stream that flows down its side.

The flower associated with this goddess is the white camellia, a flower famous throughout East White camelliaAsia. Because of its symmetrical accuracy, the camillia is a symbol of perfection and excellence.

I chose "Sengen" as a business name for the lovely imagery it evokes, for the white camellia's association with excellence, and for Sengen's meaning in a reading: powerful fires of strength and spirit beneath a calm and beautiful exterior. I hope to invoke these qualities in all aspects of my business.

Smooth Sailing Through Scouts to you!
